An amp packed full of great innovations, this is an incredible hunk of electronic engineering, and for 1961, well ahead of its time. Bar a few filter caps, this amp is entirely original. This amp is trying very hard to be the loudest, cleanest amp from the Gibson stable to rival and beat the Fender Twin. It has a "compressor" circuit which is there to make it impossible for channel 2 to clip, a noble ambition. The Norelco "whizzer" speakers are an attempt to enter the hi-fi realm, again a noble ambition. Of course, neither of these objectives are shared with the guitar playing today but this doesn't detract from the formidable achievement of the Rhythm King. This is amp is both in top 5 amps created by Gibson and the top 5 amps that no-one knows exist.  I have swapped out the Whizzers for new WGC speakers, to improve the sound and preserve the (rare) original Norelcos.  The Norelco speakers will be boxed and included in this sale.

This amp is in perfect working order. As can be seen from the photos its looks belie the life it lead as the house amp in a BC Strip Club. This amp requires a step down transformer to operate in the UK.
